Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

We will be referencing a few of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras to support our practice.

1.2 Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.

3.34 Perfect concentration on the heart reveals the contents of the mind.

(1.33 thru 1.39 are a list techniques to help still the mind. Each one references Sutra 1.2, and uses "va" which means "or" to introduce each technique)

1.34 [To still the mind] try focusing on the breath. (prachchhardana vidharanabhyam va pranayama)

1.35 Or by focusing on the subtler energies. (vishayavati va pravritti utpanna manasah sthiti nibandhani)

1.37 Or by focusing on the desire-less state. (vita raga vishayam va chittam)

1.39 Or by focusing on the deepest longings of the heart. (yatha abhimata dhyanat va)
