Note: This blog is part of a series sharing the teachings of the Atisha's Lojong Root Verses on Training the Mind as shared by Jetsumna Tenzin Palmo in London May 28 & 29, 2016.  These are not transcriptions of the lectures, rather a collection of her thoughts sewn together.

12. The Supreme effort is letting go of activity

“Its not what you get, its what you lose.” ~ Jetsumna Tenzin Palmo

On an ultimate level, there is nowhere to go and nobody to go there.  Meanwhile, we set our compass and the ego sets out under the belief system that there is somewhere to go and a better person to be. Can we release our mind from the endless mental goal making?

The highest effort is to be effortless.” ~ Jetsumna Tenzin Palmo

After a while, effort becomes an an obstacle. To get to our true nature, we cannot make an effort, it comes from realization.

Jetsumna went into almost a trance as she shared these words: “The nature of the mind is so simple, almost we could miss it….Enlightenment is so close, like the eyeball can’t see itself, it’s so close.  We don’t recognize because its so intimate, we are it and don’t see….”
