I spent a lot of times rolling around in the London Underground these last 2 weeks. Because of the agreed upon silence and downward cast of eyes to respect the privacy of all the people you are rolling around with, there is temptation to simply make out with the phone.
I was lucky enough to be constrained by the enormous cost of international data and therefore found myself conserving my time with the device for when I really needed it. I was forced to wait to be in wireless environments to play with social media.
So I had the the chance to practice what Jetsumna was sharing. I practiced loving kindness and tonglen in the tube, in the plane, on the bus and even in the taxis. It completely transforms the whole trip. It’s a break from yourself.
